Michelle Hathaway is a Chicago-based artist with a rich interdisciplinary background. She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Columbia College Chicago and an AA in Business and Marketing from Harold Washington College. With over five years of experience in freelance graphic design, audio/music production, and live event management, she founded Yearning in 2023 — a record label, collective, and experimental outlet.

Michelle's work is defined by her "archaeology" methods, where she combines found media and extensive research to form her work. She blends historical elements with modern design, exploring binaries such as analog versus digital and beauty versus unsightliness. Her innovative techniques, like blending AI with traditional methods, result in immersive and thought-provoking projects. Michelle hopes to evolve into installation work, focusing on audiovisual media, community, the evolution of life on the internet, and the nuances of girlhood and womanhood. She aims to work in creative direction, installation art, and design.
